FRoGG – FRiends of Gravel Gang
Born from a desire to bring folk together to explore the Peak by bike, regardless of their…anything, Peak Gravel Gang was founded back in 2021! Since then, this growing group has enjoyed regular adventure, new friendships, snack-sharing, confidence-building, headspace, new skills, and so much more, all whilst pedalling bikes.
Our team of ride leaders makes this happen week on week, planning routes, keeping the pace perfect, and the good energy flowing. Behind the scenes, a few volunteers organise rides, field queries (across numerous social platforms), build websites, buy insurance and generally do all the not-so-glamorous tasks that keep the group rolling.
So, if you’ve had fun riding with PGG and are able to, we’d appreciate any donation, big or small, to keep the knobbly wheels a-turning. In doing so, you’d officially become a FRoGG – Friend of Gravel Gang – and we’d be incredibly grateful for your support.

FAQs
How will my donation be used?
Your hard-earned and generously donated cash will go towards the costs of running PGG. Our main costs are annual insurance to cover our rides, website hosting, venue hire for special events, and first aid equipment. This totals around £400 each year.
Is Peak Gravel Gang a charity?
No, we’re not a charity. We’re a community, and our goal is to provide a welcoming and wholesome group environment for adventuring in the Peak. Unfortunately, basic costs are rising, and we can’t do it safely and effectively at zero cost.
How have you funded PGG up until now?
We’ve managed to win a few grants and donations in the past, and we will keep seeking those opportunities out. However, the majority of our costs so far have been funded out of our own pocket money!
Do I have to donate to take part in rides?
Absolutely not! Our entire existence is based on making sure everyone who wants to join can. Our rides have always been, and will always be, free to attend. No matter what happens, we’ll keep PGG running (rolling) and continue finding ways to fund it.
Do I have to come on a ride to donate or buy a patch?
No, you don’t have to come on a ride to donate or buy a patch – we’d just love to see our patches out there everywhere, whether you’re a regular PGG’er or a friend from afar!
Will I get anything in return for donating?
Aside from a warm, glowy feeling and being an official FRoGG, for a donation of £5 or more, you can opt to receive a PGG Bingo Card and Patch! It’s totally up to you though, and you can select that option as part of the donation process.
What's a PGG Patch and how do I get one?
We LOVE a patch! Sew it to your bike bag, your camping blanket or your grocery tote so everyone knows you love an adventure on two wheels. We had a small batch created in the hope that we could raise some funds to cover PGG costs. To add a little element of challenge, we paired these with a PGG Bingo Card (printed on seeded paper that grows wild flowers when planted!) Tick off all the elements on the bingo card to earn your card (earn is quite strong… you receive it with the patch, so completing it is entirely up to you – but if you do, we’d love to see some pics of the card being completed!).
What happens if we raise more money than our target?
Any funds over and above our target will remain in the PGG pot for a rainy day…JUST KIDDING; we’ll still be riding bikes on rainy days!! But in all seriousness, extra money will be used to put on more skill-sharing events and also act as a useful buffer in case any of our usual costs rise, or we need a new flag or an extra emergency blanket, for example. Rest assured, it won’t be finding its way into anyone’s pocket and will be funnelled right back into PGG activities to keep this awesome community thriving.
